Quick and Easy Instant Pot Oatmeal in 5 Simple Steps

Anyone find themselves in the kitchen more than normal during quarantine? I definitely had more time to spend in the kitchen and I truly enjoyed it. My usual week day schedule is wake up, get ready, rush out the door, work, sit in an hour long traffic commute on the way home, change for the gym and rush out again. Come home from gym, cook something quick, shower, and sleep. After a full day, if I were to prepare a new recipe, we probably wouldn’t be eating until like, 10 PM.

Since I wasn’t having to rush out the door, I was able to try a breakfast recipe I have been wanting to try for a long time. Oatmeal in the Instant Pot! Yes, super to easy to make in the microwave, but it always lacks good consistency.

Here is my quick Instant Pot Oats recipe:

What you will need: Instant Pot, Measuring Cups

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons butter

1.5 cups steel-cut oats

4.5 cups water

1/2 tsp salt

Brown Sugar

Heavy Whipping Cream

Now, let’s get cookin’:

Turn Instant Pot onto “Sauté” and melt the butter.

Add Steel-cut oats and mix for about 5 min until toasted.

Add water and salt. Stir.

Hit “cancel” to reset.

Close the lid to the Instant Pot and set it to “Sealing”. Select “Porridge” setting and set time for 12 min on high pressure.

Once time is up, let it sit for 10 min, venting on its own.

Once 10 min is up, you may release the pressure to release any remaining steam. Make sure you use an oven mitt, because that hot steam will burn ya!

Open lid and stir.

Enjoy!

There are endless topping options for the oatmeal. My favorite is adding brown sugar and heavy whipping cream to the top when its still hot and mixing it all in.
