Wifi vs Non-Wifi Baby Monitor: My 2 Favorite Baby Monitors

My husband and I did some pretty extensive research on baby monitors. I won’t bore you with a bunch of text, instead I will get straight to the point on why we picked each monitor and the pros and cons to having a wifi monitor and a non-wifi monitor (and the pros and cons to the monitors themselves). Both of these cameras are about $150 - so they do not break the bank. We will be taking the VAVA on vacation with us. Overall, my favorite is the VAVA monitor, but the Owlet does have some perks to it, too!

The Vava Baby Monitor

Pros:

-don’t need wifi

-the monitor is cordless/does not play on your phone

-travels well

-camera is super clear

-you can move the camera around from the monitor/scan the room

-night vision

-since it is not wifi, no one can hack into your wifi and see baby (I have heard weird stories!)

Cons:

-cannot see your baby if you are not at home and want to check-in from afar

-extra screen/thing to carry around rather than the monitor being your phone

-doesn’t come with a mount

The Owlet Smart HD Wifi Camera (camera ONLY-we do not have the sock)

Pros:

-if you are not at home and someone is watching baby, you can log in and see!

-it is just a camera so you don’ t have to carry around an extra monitor

-wall mount

-night vision

Cons:

-can’t move the camera around

-battery life/drains your cell phone

-have to have the app up and running to see baby so you can’t really being two things at once (especially annoying if you’re on your phone for work like me lol)

-someone can hack into the wifi and potentially see/talk to baby (I have heard weird stories on this)
